Ahead of their much-awaited phone conversation, US President Donald Trump claims that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have reached an agreement on “many elements” of a peace deal in Ukraine. Trump said he would talk to Putin Tuesday morning in a post on Truth Social.
Although there have been agreements, he stated that “much remains” to be worked on. 2,500 soldiers are killed every week on both sides, and this has to stop immediately. The call with President Putin is something I am anticipating,” Trump stated.
In a previous statement to reporters, he said, “I think we’ll be able to work a peace agreement, a ceasefire, and peace.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Putin of dragging out the war in his nightly speech on Monday.
This proposal could have been implemented long ago,” he stated, adding that “every day in wartime means human lives . Regarding the progress of ceasefire negotiations, there have been contradictions inside the Trump administration.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated following his meeting with Ukrainian officials in Jeddah that the “bulk” of the discussion had been “what a negotiation process would look like” rather than “the specific conditions.
